Government cracking down on regulations
Upholstery Journal | February 2010
The Federal government is increasing enforcement in several areas that impact home textiles. The Federal Trade Commission is now enforcing green and organic claims and scrutinizing bamboo, which must be labeled as rayon. The U.S. Customs Department is also finding discrepancies, levying additional duties at ports and hiring new personnel. It is also expected for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to work on new flammability requirements for bedding and mattresses.
