Green spending on the rise
Upholstery Journal | April 2008
The most recent ImagePower Green Brands Survey shows that consumers expect to double their spending on green related products and services in 2008. Numbers are expected at around $500 billion for the year, or $43 billion per month. Respondents indicated particular interest in changes that are easy to implement, such as using energy-saving light bulbs and appliances. Also, 82 percent of respondents believe it’s important for companies to implement environmentally friendly practices.
The survey also found new associations with the word “green.” Today’s consumers perceive green as a “direct and positive reflection of their social status, in addition to recognizing its broader value to society and the world.”
The study was conducted by consultants WPP Landor Associates, Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates and Cohn & Wolfe.
