Kittinger Furniture of Buffalo, N.Y., was commissioned to produce some of the furniture for Barack Obama’s inauguration. The White House asked Kittinger to make two presidential fireside chairs and a utility table—and to do the custom work in a short period of time. The Kittinger furniture was requested in four weeks, whereas a similar custom project typically takes 12 to 14 weeks to complete.

The pieces will be added to the set of six chairs the White House ordered for former President Bush’s 2005 inauguration. Kittenger has been asked to build custom furniture for the White House for more than 40 years.
