Auto upholstery goes green

Motivated by price and social awareness, auto-industry suppliers are turning to recycled materials in their search for new sources of raw materials. Several cars in Ford’s 2010 line feature upholstery made from materials that include old soda bottles and yarn waste. Ford said the use of this and other recycling efforts has saved the company $5 million. With the auto-industry struggling from a lack of sales, such efforts to cut costs are predicted to increase.
