UpholsteryJournalMag.com | April 22, 2010
The recent green movement has spawned many innovative processes and materials for creating eco-friendly textiles. This movement isn't typically associated with high-tech practices, and technology was even shunned by earlier eco-friendly predecessors. The earth-friendly industry is rapidly changing, and many green textiles are now available for residential and contract furniture markets.
Basic eco-textiles are:
- Recyclable
- Made of recyclable materials
- Biodegradable
- Produced using green manufacturing processes without chemical byproducts
- Follow the Cradle to Cradle principals
- Do not off-gas
