The House of Representatives has approved the U.S. Coast Guard Authorization Act. Included in the act is a provision to provide relief to the recreational marine servicing and repair industry. The provision exempts the recreational boating industry’s service and repair sector from the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act’s required coverage, as long as state workers’ compensation coverage is in place.

The focus is now on securing passage for the Act to the U.S. Senate.
