Flame retardants found in U.S. coastal waters
Upholstery Journal | June 2009
Flame retardant chemicals common in textiles, furnishings and building materials have been found along the coasts of the southern United States. These new findings are damaging to coastal ecosystems, and could be used as evidence for more chemical regulations. Medium levels of chemicals were found in samples taken from mussels. This contrasts with samples taken in 1996, showing limited amounts of chemicals.
