Mississippi upholstery manufacturers receive tax credit
Upholstery Journal | June 2010
Under new legislation, upholstery manufacturers in Mississippi will receive a $2,000 tax credit for each new cut-and-sew job they create in the state. The new tax credit, which was backed by the Mississippi Furniture Association, emphasizes the importance of newly created jobs.
Industry and political leaders were relieved and encouraged that the measure passed. Governor Haley Barbour had vetoed a tax credit that lawmakers passed last year, which would have given manufacturers a tax credit for each existing job, in addition to newly created jobs.
