Ohio committee approves street rod, custom vehicle bill
Upholstery Journal | August 2010
The Ohio House Transportation Committee unanimously passed legislation to create vehicle titling and classification for street rods and custom vehicles. Special license plates will be provided for these vehicles. The bill defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1949, and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 20 years old and manufactured after 1948.
The bill also allows kit cars and replica vehicles to be assigned a certification of title bearing the same model-year designation that the body of the vehicle was constructed to resemble. The measure also includes street rods and customs in the historical motor vehicle definition. The bill was sent to the floor for a vote by the full House.
