Fabric recycling program
Upholstery Journal | October 2008
The Sample Waste Initiative for Furniture and Textiles industries (SWIFT) started a fabric recycling program called the Green Initiative for Furniture and Textiles (GIFFT). Discarded fabric is collected and reused in quilts, wheelchair bags and other items for children in need.
The organization aims to collect 10 tons of fabric this year. All donations are tax-deductible. After fabric is collected, it is taken to volunteer quilting organization Quilts for Kids, where quilts are created and delivered to children in hospitals and other care facilities.
